Taking Responsibility of your action - The Core quality to Succeed

Getting stalled with a project, blaming others, waiting for others to take initiative and fix the issues, claiming appreciation for a normal contribution, complaining, making excuses, playing the victim and feeling de-motivated because we lack help to fix these issues, we often observe such qualities among ourselves and our peers. But, how many of us have actually thought of putting such traits into the coffin box, has anyone of us even thought that these traits must not be entertained??

The consequences of such issues within are dreadful. They will make any individual deviate from achieving success, act repellant to others, their perception on self importance gets exaggerated and develop qualities such as being unrealistic, impulsive, intolerant, and adamant.

To get rid of these issues and consequences, there is a simple yet difficult to practice rescue concept. “Taking responsibility of your actions”. Be it for a sales executive or a finance analyst or a HR executive or any other employee, Responsibility is one core quality which employers look for, either consciously or subconsciously while hiring a candidate. Being responsible starts with developing a belief or habit of mind that we, as individuals, are accountable for the quality and timeliness of an outcome, even when we’re working with others.

Golden rules to practice taking up responsibility:

1.    Understanding and accepting yourself and the surroundings.
2.    Respect your choices.
3. Let go off your insecurities and negativity, accentuate the positive.
4.   To err is human, take the blame and learn from your mistakes. Forgive yourself.

5.    Accept change.
6.    Acknowledge and be accountable.

7.    Don’t play the victim.
8.   Don’t expect others to praise or reward you. Be humble. Validate yourself.
9.    Never stereotype, have prejudices or be biased.
10.  Trying to be selfless, rather being self-centered.
11.   Finish what you start.

I am pretty sure, these principles cannot be put into practice overnight, but am also sure that these principles when adopted as habits will make any individual excel in both personal and professional life. One can feel the transformation of their inner self and becoming a better person.

Taking responsibility of our actions will make us gain trust and respect from other people, it gives freedom, helps us take initiatives and allows fewer negative emotions which are the vital elements of success.

In this complex world, living with responsibility can make more action and result oriented individuals. It’s up to us to make change and take responsibility for our outcomes in our personal as well as professional lives. What are you waiting for!!
